**Los Angeles, CA** – John Leguizamo is the latest addition to the already impressive cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, “The Odyssey,” Universal Pictures announced today. The film, slated for release on July 17, 2026, will star a powerhouse ensemble including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, and Jon Bernthal.

Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s classic tale will be a groundbreaking cinematic experience, marking the first time the foundational saga is brought to IMAX film screens. Filming, which will utilize cutting-edge IMAX technology, will take place across the globe, with a significant portion slated for Sicily in Spring 2025. Specifically, filming is expected to begin on Favignana, an island believed to be the inspiration for Odysseus’ landing in Homer’s epic poem.

Leguizamo, a celebrated comedian and actor with a four-decade career spanning film, television, and Broadway, joins the project with a resume boasting roles in such diverse projects as “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar,” “Romeo + Juliet,” and “Moulin Rouge,” as well as Emmy-nominated performances in “When They See Us” and “Waco.”
