**Chennai, January 31, 2025** – Edappadi K. Palaniswami, general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), has strongly criticized the rapid passage of the Wakf (amendment) Bill by a Joint Committee. In a social media post, Mr. Palaniswami described the clearance as “unacceptable,” highlighting concerns raised by various stakeholders that were reportedly ignored.
While the central government claims the bill aims to protect Wakf properties, Mr. Palaniswami argued that Muslim concerns about potentially discriminatory provisions within the legislation are valid. He urged the Union government to withdraw the bill entirely.
