Fri Jan 31 15:35:15 UTC 2025: ## UDF Promises Solution to Human-Wildlife Conflict in Kerala

**Thrissur, Kerala –** Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has pledged that a United Democratic Front (UDF) government will permanently resolve human-wildlife conflicts in Kerala. Speaking at a reception for the Malayora Samrakshana Yatra in Chaipankuzhi on Friday, Mr. Satheesan assured residents that the UDF would pressure both the state and central governments for a solution. He criticized the current Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s handling of the issue, stating that if the LDF fails, the UDF will address the problem upon assuming power.

The protest march highlights the plight of high-range residents forced to abandon their homes and lands due to frequent wildlife attacks, according to UDF leader M.M. Hassan. He emphasized the inability of farmers and tribal people to cultivate their land because of the constant threat.

The event, chaired by MLA Sanesh Kumar Joseph, was attended by MP Benny Behanan, MLAs Roji M. John and Anwar Sadath, and UDF district chairperson M.P. Vincent. Mr. Satheesan’s statement also linked the UDF’s protest to a controversial proposed forest law that the opposition claims grants excessive power to officials.
