Fri Jan 31 20:50:00 IST 2025: ## Ticketmaster to Pay $6 Million in Canadian Class-Action Settlement Over Hidden Fees

**Toronto, ON –** Ticketmaster will pay out $6 million in a class-action settlement over allegations of deceptive “drip pricing,” a Canadian court ruled this month. The settlement resolves a lawsuit accusing the ticketing giant of misleading customers by advertising low ticket prices while adding substantial mandatory fees later in the purchase process.

The Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench approved the settlement, which stems from a 2018 class-action lawsuit filed by Crystal Watch. The suit claimed Ticketmaster’s practices resulted in customers paying up to 65% more than the initially advertised price. This is not the first time Ticketmaster has faced scrutiny for its pricing practices; in 2018, the Competition Bureau of Canada sued the company for similar infractions, resulting in a $4 million penalty and mandated changes to its advertising.

Canadians who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster between January 1st and June 30th, 2018, for events in Canada (excluding Quebec) are eligible to claim a $45 gift card as part of the settlement. The gift cards are transferable and can be used for future Ticketmaster purchases in Canada and the US (excluding MLB tickets and resale tickets).

Eligible individuals will be contacted via email by the claims administrator with instructions on how to file a claim by a specified deadline. Failure to submit a claim by the deadline will forfeit eligibility for the gift card. The settlement concludes years of legal battles and represents a significant win for consumers who felt misled by Ticketmaster’s pricing tactics.
