**CHENNAI, January 31, 2025** – The Hindu newspaper published a quiz today challenging readers on their knowledge of computer virus history. The quiz, appearing in the Science For All section, posed five questions covering significant milestones in the development and impact of computer viruses and worms. Questions included identifying the world’s first computer virus to escape into other networks (the “Elk Cloner”), the first virus for the IBM Personal Computer (“Brain”), and the terms for self-mutating code that maintains function (“polymorphic”) and code that rewrites itself to alter its function (“metamorphic”).
