Fri Jan 31 10:18:42 UTC 2025: **Telangana’s MSME Policy and WE Hub Praised in Economic Survey**

HYDERABAD, January 31, 2025 – Telangana’s proactive approach to fostering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has earned recognition in the Economic Survey 2024-25. The survey highlighted the state’s September 2023 MSME policy, which encourages e-commerce adoption through platforms like the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Government e Marketplace (GeM). This initiative was cited as a key contributor to India’s burgeoning e-commerce exports, alongside other government programs like Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

The survey also singled out WE Hub, Telangana’s state-led incubator for women entrepreneurs, as a model for government support in boosting women’s entrepreneurship. Launched seven years ago, WE Hub has secured ₹177 crore in funding, incubated 6,376 start-ups and SMEs, engaged with 7,828 entrepreneurs, and launched 87 startup programs, with a remarkable 75% survival rate beyond two years.

The Economic Survey acknowledges the factors driving India’s e-commerce export growth, including improved data connectivity, smartphone penetration, digital payment adoption, rising incomes, and increased familiarity with online shopping. However, it also points to challenges regarding regulatory frameworks and compliance, particularly the need for clearer roles for sellers and e-commerce platforms. The survey’s commendation of Telangana’s initiatives underscores the state’s commitment to fostering economic growth and empowering women entrepreneurs.
