Fri Jan 31 19:22:08 IST 2025: ## Tiruchi to Build ₹340 Crore Link Road with Elevated Sections

**Tiruchi, January 31, 2025** – A new 9.9-km link road connecting Panjapur’s Integrated Bus Terminus to various residential areas in Tiruchi is set to begin construction. The ₹340 crore project, spearheaded by the Tiruchi Corporation, will be implemented in three phases.

Phase II, a 5.8-km stretch between Allithurai and the MGR statue, costing an estimated ₹190 crore, is currently awaiting land acquisition. The corporation is undertaking a detailed survey to acquire approximately nine acres of land through direct negotiated purchase, aiming for completion by March. Once land acquisition is finalized, administrative and technical sanctions will be sought before tenders are floated.

Phases I (Panjapur to Kasilingam bridge, 2 km, ₹81.72 crore) and III (Kuzhumayee Amman temple to Kudamuriti river, 2.1 km, ₹68 crore) have already had tenders floated and are awaiting scrutiny. Work on these phases will commence simultaneously.

The entire project is expected to be completed within 18 months of the commencement of work. A notable feature will be five elevated sections along the nine-meter-wide road, planned near railway crossings and major intersections to improve traffic flow. Funding for the project comes from the 15th Finance Commission Grant, Corporation Fund, Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure Finance – Tamil Nadu Phase III (SMIF-TN-III), and the State Urban Infrastructure Development Fund 2024-25 (SUIDF).
