**Bengaluru, January 31, 2025** – The Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) will host the Sci560 Film Festival on February 1st and 2nd at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC). The two-day festival, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature 20 films in four languages exploring Bengaluru’s scientific, technological, and cultural history.
The films, selected through an open call and curated by a jury from the Bangalore Film Forum and SGB, offer diverse perspectives on the city’s evolution. Highlights include “Down the Drain,” a documentary examining Bengaluru’s water crisis, and “In Search of Gold,” exploring the history of the Kolar Gold Fields. Post-screening discussions with filmmakers and experts will provide further insights.
Programme Manager at SGB, Gayatri Manu, described the festival as capturing “the essence of Bengaluru’s evolving identity.” Founding Director Jahnavi Phalkey highlighted the inclusion of an SGB-commissioned film, a first for the gallery. Sandhya Kannan from BIC emphasized the festival’s role in understanding Bengaluru’s multifaceted identity.
Beyond screenings, the festival includes interactive programs, a Bengaluru-themed quiz, a virtual scavenger hunt, and installations encouraging audience participation in documenting the city’s history. The event is part of SGB’s larger Sci560: Science in the City exhibition, currently running at its Sanjaynagar premises. Supported by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, the exhibition examines Bengaluru’s transformation through a military-industrial-academic lens.
