**Hyderabad, [Date]:** Venkatesh’s latest release, “Sankranthi Vasthunnam,” has defied all expectations, becoming a blockbuster hit during the Sankranthi festival season. Made on a relatively low budget with minimal pre-release hype and a short production timeline, the film has surprised audiences and critics alike, shattering several box office records.
The film, released towards the end of the Sankranthi holiday period, has already surpassed the lifetime collections of several other films released during the same season. It has notably outperformed “Dakku Maharajah” within its first four days and is on track to surpass Ram Charan’s “Game Changer” within a week. In a remarkable comeback for Venkatesh, whose previous Sankranthi release, “Saindhav,” underperformed, “Sankranthi Vasthunnam” is estimated to have a gross collection of ₹300 crore and a share of ₹150 crore. This is a significant achievement, bringing the film’s total profit to over ₹110 crore. This success rivals some of Venkatesh’s biggest hits such as “Bobbili Raja,” “Chanti,” and “Jayam Manadera.”
The film has also achieved remarkable success in the Telugu states, grossing ₹200 crore (₹100 crore share) against a business of ₹33 crore, generating a profit of ₹77 crore. Furthermore, the worldwide gross collections are estimated to reach ₹270 crore (₹150 crore share) against a pre-release business of ₹41.50 crore. This makes it Venkatesh’s first film to cross the ₹100 crore gross and share marks as a solo hero. The movie’s US box office collections are also nearing $3 million.
In the non-Pan-India Telugu film category, “Sankranthi Vasthunnam” has even surpassed the lifetime collections of “Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo,” establishing it as a major box office triumph. This success confirms Venkatesh’s strong family audience appeal and surpasses the lifetime collections of Chiranjeevi’s films like “Waltair Veerayya” and “Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy” amongst senior Telugu heroes. At 60+, Venkatesh has joined the ranks of Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan, achieving over ₹200 crore gross collections. The film is expected to soon join the ₹300 crore club.
