**Hyderabad, India** – The Telugu-language film “Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam,” starring Venkatesh and directed by Anil Ravipudi, is enjoying phenomenal success at the box office, prompting discussions about delaying its OTT release. The crime-comedy entertainer, which also features Aishwarya Rajesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary, has already raked in ₹276 crore (approximately $33 million USD) worldwide in just 13 days, with strong performance in North America exceeding $2.7 million USD.
The film’s OTT rights were acquired by ZEE5, with an initial agreement targeting a February release. However, due to the film’s continued strong theatrical run and audience demand, the makers are reportedly requesting ZEE5 to postpone the streaming date. Similar situations have occurred before; last year, the success of “Hanu-Man” led to a delayed OTT release, maximizing box office revenue. Trade analysts believe delaying “Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam’s” OTT release could significantly boost its final theatrical earnings, particularly given the lack of major competition in theaters this week. This contrasts with “Pushpa 2,” which had a December release and is only slated for OTT release after 56 days. Therefore, “Sankranthi Ki Vasthunnam” may not appear on ZEE5 until late February or early March. Negotiations between the filmmakers and ZEE5 are currently underway.
