**Puducherry, January 31, 2025** – Former Member of Parliament and president of the Puducherry Maanila Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (PMMMK), M. Ramadass, has called on the Puducherry government to erect a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Karaikal. Mr. Ramadass highlighted the lack of a Gandhi memorial in the exclave as a significant omission, particularly given the recent observance of the Father of the Nation’s death anniversary. He urged the government to install a statue in front of the Karaikal Collectorate. Should the government fail to act, the PMMMK has pledged to erect a statue at its own expense within two months, following the acquisition of necessary permissions.
