Fri Jan 31 14:53:36 UTC 2025: ## Erode Daily Wage Worker Receives 20-Year Sentence for Child Sexual Assault
**ERODE, January 31, 2025** – A daily wage worker, Abdul Rehman of Nanjai Uthukuli, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and fined ₹10,000 by the Fast Track Mahila Court in Erode on Friday. Rehman was convicted of sexually assaulting a minor girl, a class VII student, in 2022.
The prosecution presented evidence that Rehman assaulted the girl and threatened her into silence. After discovering the assault, the girl’s parents filed a complaint with the All Women Police Station in Erode, leading to Rehman’s arrest and subsequent imprisonment. The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. Judge C. Sornakumar presided over the case and handed down the sentence. Rehman is currently being held at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
