Thu Jan 30 18:28:22 UTC 2025: **Kerala Opposition Accuses BRS Leader of Brewery Deal Involvement**

**Malappuram/Hyderabad, January 30, 2025** – Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, has accused K. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and an accused in the Delhi liquor policy scam, of visiting Kerala to secure approval for a brewery unit in Palakkad. Ms. Kavitha vehemently denies the allegations, calling them “baseless and defamatory” and threatening legal action if Mr. Satheesan doesn’t retract his statement.

Mr. Satheesan alleges Ms. Kavitha’s visit was related to Oasis Commercial Private Limited, the company granted permission to build the brewery. He claims the decision was made unilaterally by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh, without consulting relevant government departments, suggesting a “mysterious deal.” The Opposition United Democratic Front released a January 15th Cabinet note supporting these claims, indicating a lack of inter-departmental discussion.

Mr. Satheesan further alleges the state government altered its liquor policy to benefit Oasis Commercial Private Limited, which acquired land before the policy change. He questions how the company could have anticipated the policy amendment, accusing the government of tailoring the policy to suit the company. He also dismisses the Excise Minister’s claim that the brewery will save ₹210 crore in GST losses, stating breweries are not subject to GST. Ms. Kavitha characterizes the accusations as a desperate political ploy by the Congress party.
