Thu Jan 30 17:47:47 UTC 2025: **Hyderabad IT Sector to Employ Transgender Community as Cab Drivers and Security Personnel**
HYDERABAD, INDIA – January 31, 2025 – The Cyberabad Women Safety Wing has launched an initiative to provide employment opportunities to members of the transgender community in the IT sector. Over 50 major IT companies, including Microsoft, TCS, and Accenture, have agreed to participate.
The program will initially focus on roles such as cab drivers for female employees, security personnel, and maintenance workers within IT parks. The initiative aims to help transgender individuals, many of whom have been rescued from exploitative situations, to gain stable employment and escape marginalization.
DCP Srujana Karnam of the Cyberabad Women and Children Safety Wing stated that the program offers a win-win situation: providing safe transportation for female IT employees while simultaneously offering meaningful employment opportunities to the transgender community. Some companies have also expressed interest in hiring qualified transgender individuals for technical or administrative positions.
The police will handle the authentication and onboarding process for new employees, and will also assist with securing housing for those who need it. Officials are optimistic that this initiative will encourage more transgender individuals to seek employment beyond traditional roles.
