Wed Jan 22 16:39:38 IST 2025: ## ISRO Dispatches Crew Module for Gaganyaan’s First Uncrewed Mission

**Bengaluru, January 22, 2025** – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced today that the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) in Bengaluru has successfully dispatched the Crew Module for the first uncrewed mission of its ambitious Gaganyaan project (G1). The module, which will carry a crew of three astronauts into orbit and back, has completed integration of its liquid propulsion system.

The Crew Module Propulsion System (CMPS), a bi-propellant Reaction Control System (RCS), will provide precise three-axis control (pitch, yaw, and roll) during the descent and re-entry phases, until parachute deployment. The system utilizes twelve 100N thrusters, a pressurization system, and propellant feed system. The Crew Module Uprighting System (CMUS), designed by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), has also been integrated.

The module will now undergo further integration at the VSSC, including avionics assembly and electrical harnessing, before being sent to the U R Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru for final integration with the Orbital Module. Gaganyaan represents ISRO’s first human spaceflight endeavor, with the uncrewed mission preceding any crewed flights.
