HYDERABAD, Telangana, India (January 31, 2025) – Dundigal police arrested Gurram Vijayalakshmi on Wednesday night for allegedly defrauding approximately 200 people in a villa development scheme. Vijayalakshmi, operating under the names of Sri Lakshmi Constructions, Sri Lakshmi Magnus Constructions, and Bhavan GLC, sold plots in Mallampet in 2018, promising amenities such as swimming pools and yoga halls.
However, police say she failed to deliver basic infrastructure, including drainage, water and electricity meters, and a compound wall. Victims filed complaints in January and November 2024, after which Vijayalakshmi evaded arrest until police intercepted her at the airport.
Upon her arrest, victims protested outside the Dundigal police station. Vijayalakshmi has been remanded into custody and faces charges under various sections of law. The investigation is ongoing.
