**ERODE, January 31, 2025** – Election officials in Erode have seized ₹52.78 lakh in unaccounted cash and materials ahead of the Erode (East) Assembly by-election. This includes ₹26.52 lakh which was later released after the presentation of valid documents. The seizures, which began on January 7th with the enforcement of the model code of conduct, also encompass 84.28 liters of liquor, ganja, tablets, and sarees/garments, totaling an additional ₹1.71 lakh. Police have registered 44 cases of model code violations. District Election Officer Raja Gopal Sunkara urged citizens to carry valid documentation when transporting cash exceeding ₹50,000.
