**RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA** – Saudi Arabia is set to unveil “Dream of the Desert,” the Middle East’s first luxury train, by the end of 2026. The ambitious project, a collaboration between Saudi Railways (SAR) and the Italian Arsenale Group, will offer a lavish journey through the Kingdom’s stunning landscapes.
The 1,300-kilometer route will traverse the country’s northern regions, departing from Riyadh and traveling to Al Qurayyat near the Jordanian border. Passengers will experience breathtaking scenery across Al Qassim, Hail, and Al Jouf, including views of the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Nature Reserve, during the one- to two-day journey.
Designed by Lebanese architect Aline Asmar d’Amman, the train will boast 14 carriages featuring 34 opulent suites. Interiors will showcase a blend of luxury and Saudi heritage, featuring gold-adorned ceilings, tile-fronted bars, plush furnishings, and majlis-inspired reception areas. Original artwork celebrating Saudi culture will also be displayed throughout the train. Culinary experiences will be curated by local and international chefs.
H.E. Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of SAR, highlighted the project’s strategic importance, stating it aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global logistics standing and elevate its tourism sector. The luxury train is part of a broader initiative to attract 150 million visitors to the Kingdom by 2030. The “Dream of the Desert” is expected to set a new benchmark for rail travel, combining luxury, innovation, and cultural authenticity.
