Fri Jan 31 13:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Disney Shuts Down Star Wars Hotel, Plans to Transform it into Offices for Major Theme Park Expansion

**Orlando, FL** – Disney’s ambitious Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a $1 billion immersive hotel experience, has officially closed its doors after just 18 months of operation. The luxury hotel, which offered guests a two-day, role-playing adventure integrated with the Star Wars universe, proved too costly to sustain. Minimum room rates reached a staggering $4,800 for two people.

Instead of reopening the resort, Disney has announced plans to repurpose the building into office space for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). WDI intends to use the facility as a central hub for the development of several new expansions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

These planned additions include themed lands based on *Encanto* and *Indiana Jones*, as well as areas dedicated to *Cars* and Disney Villains. Most controversially, a *Monsters, Inc.* land is slated to replace the existing Muppet*Vision 3D and Muppet Courtyard.

While the announcement confirms the repurposing of the Galactic Starcruiser building, Disney has not provided a timeline for the new Hollywood Studios expansions. The Wrap speculates that these projects will take “years” to complete.
