Thu Jan 30 18:17:24 UTC 2025: ## Kochi Police Investigate Alleged School Ragging Leading to 14-Year-Old’s Suicide
**KOCHI, January 30, 2025** – The Kochi City police have launched an inquiry into the death of a 14-year-old boy, who allegedly committed suicide earlier this month. The investigation follows a petition from the boy’s mother to the State Police Chief, alleging that her son was subjected to severe ragging at his school, leading him to take his own life.
The petition, which has been forwarded to the District Police Chief (Kochi City), details horrific incidents of bullying and physical assault both at school and on the school bus. Evidence gathered from the boy’s friends and social media messages, including an Instagram forum created after his death, supports the mother’s claims.
The boy, a Class 9 student who enrolled in the school in November 2024, was reportedly targeted by other students. His mother alleges that the school attempted to cover up the ragging incident to protect its reputation. The Hill Palace police have already registered a case of unnatural death and are conducting a separate probe. The family has since moved from their apartment.
The police investigation is being handled cautiously due to the involvement of minors. Authorities are urging anyone experiencing distress or suicidal thoughts to seek help by contacting DISHA (1056, 0471-2552056), the state’s health helpline (104), Maithri (0484-2540530), or Thanal Suicide Prevention Centre (0495-2760000).
