**LOS ANGELES (AP)** — Dave Matthews has canceled his appearances at two major benefit concerts: FireAid, a star-studded wildfire relief event in Los Angeles, and the MusiCares Person of the Year gala. The cancellations were announced via the Dave Matthews Band’s official Instagram account, citing a “critical illness in the family.” A representative for the band declined further comment.
Matthews was to share the stage with John Mayer for the first time at FireAid, held at the Kia Forum. All proceeds from FireAid will go to victims of the recent Los Angeles-area wildfires, channeled through a 501(c)(3) organization working with the Annenberg Foundation.
His MusiCares performance was scheduled for Friday, honoring the Grateful Dead as the 2025 Persons of the Year. MusiCares provides financial, personal, and medical assistance to music industry professionals. The organization, along with the Recording Academy, recently launched a $4 million+ Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to aid those in the music industry affected by the wildfires.
