**CHICO, Calif. —** Over 700 children aged 6-15 are set to lace up their boots as the Chico Youth Soccer league begins its season this Saturday, February 1st. The league, which will run for eight consecutive Saturdays, concluding March 22nd, has seen a surge in registrations.

Action News Now Sports Director Matthew Kerr Wilson spoke with the Whalen family, whose two sons are enthusiastic participants. Jason Whalen emphasized the importance of active lifestyles for children in today’s digital age, highlighting the benefits of team sports and outdoor activities. The family enjoys playing at 20th Street Park, combining soccer with biking and other activities.
