**NEW DELHI** – India’s economy is forecast to grow between 6.3% and 6.8% in the fiscal year 2025-2026, according to the Economic Survey presented to Parliament on Friday by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The annual document, released ahead of the Union Budget, provides an assessment of the current economic climate and future outlook.

The survey highlighted the ambitious goal of achieving 8% annual growth for up to two decades to realize the vision of a developed India by 2047. This target represents a significant challenge for the nation’s economic planners.

The presentation of the Economic Survey coincides with the commencement of the first part of the Budget Session of Parliament, which runs until February 13th and will reconvene from March 10th to April 4th, encompassing a total of 27 sittings. President Droupadi Murmu, in her address to the joint sitting, underscored the government’s dedication to inclusive development, emphasizing its foundational importance for national success.
