**Imphal, Manipur – January 31, 2025** – Security forces in Manipur conducted a successful operation, seizing a significant cache of weapons and arresting two extortionists. In a search operation on Thursday in the Kakching district, forces recovered one assault rifle, one 9mm pistol, one improvised explosive device (IED), two grenades, a smoke shell, a tear smoke grenade, and a detonator from the foothills of Chairel Khunou hill.
Separately, Manipur Police apprehended two individuals in Imphal West district on Thursday. The suspects, members of an organization called the Volunteers Welfare Fund, were arrested in the Sagolband Tera area for alleged extortion activities. The arrests and weapons seizure represent a significant blow to criminal and potentially insurgent activity in the state.
