AUSTIN, TX – Arch Manning, the highly touted quarterback and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, says he’s not ready for the spotlight despite the considerable attention he already receives. In an interview with ESPN, Manning, set to become Texas’ starting quarterback in the 2025 season, acknowledged the fame associated with his last name but insisted he hasn’t earned the level of recognition he’s currently experiencing.

“I think a lot of undeserved attention,” Manning stated. “I don’t think I’ve done enough yet to be taking a lot of pictures at restaurants and signing autographs.”

Manning, the top high school recruit in the nation, joined the Longhorns in 2023, backing up Quinn Ewers. While he saw limited action in 2023, he took over the starting role several times in 2024 due to Ewers’ injuries, showcasing his potential with a five-touchdown performance against UTSA. However, he tallied only eight additional touchdowns across nine games, accumulating 969 passing yards and nine touchdowns with two interceptions on the season. His rushing ability, which produced four touchdowns, also proved a significant asset.

With Ewers now heading to the NFL, Manning will have the opportunity to fully showcase his talents this upcoming season. He believes his style of play is most similar to his grandfather, Archie Manning, and anticipates a more dynamic offense under head coach Steve Sarkisian, who he praises for his adaptability and winning mentality.

Manning and the Longhorns will look to capitalize on his full-time starting role and continue the upward trajectory of the Texas football program in 2025.
