Thu Jan 30 19:40:41 UTC 2025: ## Mysterious Deaths in Chennai Apartment Spark Police Investigation
**Chennai, January 31, 2025** – The bodies of a 78-year-old man and his 36-year-old daughter were discovered in a locked apartment in Thirumullaivoyal, Chennai, prompting a police investigation into suspicious circumstances. Samuel Sankar and his daughter, Ann Cynthia, both from Vellore, had been residing in the apartment so Mr. Sankar could receive dialysis treatment at a nearby hospital.
Relatives raised the alarm after being unable to contact the pair. Police, using mobile phone signals to locate them, forced entry into the apartment and found the decomposed bodies. Inspector George Miller of Thirumullaivoyal Police initiated an investigation and sent the bodies for postmortem.
The investigation led police to Samuel Ebinezer, a 34-year-old doctor who had studied in Vienna and was reportedly close to Ann Cynthia. Ebinezer, who resided in the same apartment complex, was detained. Preliminary inquiries revealed that Cynthia, estranged from her husband, had moved in with her father at Ebinezer’s suggestion. Ebinezer had allegedly been providing her father’s medical care, including dialysis.
Police believe Mr. Sankar died in September due to potentially improper treatment by Ebinezer. A subsequent altercation between Cynthia and the doctor resulted in Ebinezer allegedly pushing her unconscious. He then reportedly fled the scene, locking the apartment. The air conditioner remained on, and police suspect camphor was used to mask the odor of decomposition.
The police are currently investigating whether Mr. Sankar’s death was due to medical negligence or natural causes, and are working to determine the exact circumstances of Cynthia’s death. Further investigation is underway to corroborate Ebinezer’s statements and piece together the full sequence of events.
