**Chennai, January 30, 2025** – A 24-year-old aspiring police officer and accomplished boxer, Dhanush, was brutally murdered late Wednesday night in Triplicane, Chennai. Nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Dhanush, a resident of Rajajinagar, was attacked by an armed gang wielding knives while walking in his neighborhood. His friend, Arun, who tried to intervene, sustained a neck injury and is currently receiving treatment at Government Royapettah Hospital.
Police sources suggest the attack stemmed from past altercations between Dhanush and a local group of youths. These prior incidents, which resulted in police cases against Dhanush, reportedly hampered his application to join the police force.
Dhanush, the son of Rajesh and Radha, had a promising boxing career, having won several medals in competitions. His death has shocked the community. The Ice House Police are continuing their investigation.
