**CHENNAI, January 30, 2025** – A 5,000-strong walkathon held in Chennai on Wednesday aimed to raise public awareness about cybercrime and the importance of the 1930 Cyber Crime Helpline. Organized by the Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing, the event drew participants from schools, colleges, local communities, and youth organizations like the NCC and NSS.
The walkathon, flagged off by Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, served as a launchpad for initiatives to expand the 1930 helpline, providing individuals with quicker access to assistance and protection against cyber threats. Addressing the participants, Additional Director General of Police Sandeep Mittal and Director General of Police Shankar Jiwal emphasized the crucial role of prompt reporting in combating cybercrime. The event highlighted the growing need for increased cyber safety awareness among the public.
