Thu Jan 30 21:10:00 IST 2025: **Ticketmaster Canada to Issue $45 Gift Cards in $6 Million Settlement**

Regina, SK – Ticketmaster Canada will issue electronic gift cards valued at approximately $45 to customers affected by a class-action lawsuit concerning undisclosed fees. The $6 million settlement, approved by the Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench, resolves a lawsuit brought by Crystal Watch alleging Ticketmaster misled consumers through “drip pricing”—adding fees late in the online purchasing process.

While Ticketmaster denied wrongdoing, the settlement covers purchases made between January 1, 2018, and June 30, 2018. Justice Graeme Mitchell called the case a “legitimate consumer protection lawsuit,” noting the potential for up to 100,000 Saskatchewan residents and over 1 million Canadians to be eligible. Watch will receive $25,000, and legal fees are capped at $1.725 million.

Eligible customers will receive notification via email with instructions on redeeming the transferable gift cards, usable for primary tickets, parking, VIP packages, and select merchandise (excluding MLB tickets and resale tickets). Those not contacted should contact the law firm representing the plaintiffs. This settlement follows a 2019 Competition Bureau of Canada $4 million fine against Ticketmaster for similar practices. The case highlights ongoing concerns about transparency in online ticket pricing, mirroring recent US Federal Trade Commission regulations aimed at improving fee disclosure.
