**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, January 30, 2025** – Chennai-based metal band Jhanu, known for their Tamil lyrics and unique sound, is set to perform in Thiruvananthapuram on February 2nd. The concert, taking place at Joy’s Music Room, Kunnukuzhy at 7 pm, will also feature the band Kaalam. Tickets are available on the Sort my Scene app.

The band, founded in 2011, gained recognition with their debut album, “Achamillai,” released in 2023. Their music has been featured in prominent films like Rajinikanth’s *Kabali* and *Kaala*, and Jhanu, the band’s founder and guitarist, also composed the music for the web series *The Hunt for Veerappan*.

Jhanu’s journey has been one of unexpected success. The band’s name itself was a happy accident, and their initial struggles to gain traction against the rising popularity of pop and hip-hop in India have only strengthened their resolve. Following the release of “Achamillai,” the band embarked on a successful tour of Mexico, playing eleven shows, including one requested by Indian Embassy officials.

The band members cite their influences as ranging from early 2000s Chennai metal bands to guitarist Steve Watz, who, sadly, passed away in 2023. They express a deep connection to Kerala, having performed there numerous times and fostered friendships with local bands such as Motherjane, Avial, and Chaos. Jhanu, who studied architecture in Calicut, highlighted the unique appreciation and attentiveness of the Kerala audience as a key reason for their repeated return. The band is currently working on their next album.
