Imphal, January 30, 2025 – The Manipur government announced a major bureaucratic reshuffle today, transferring 60 bureaucrats and 10 police officers with immediate effect. The changes, detailed in an official notification, affect key positions across various departments.

Several high-ranking officials have been reassigned. Paulunthang Vaiphei, the Director General of the State Academy of Training, will now serve as Additional Chief Secretary. Anurag Bajpai, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, takes on the role of Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce and Industries). Arun Kumar Sinha, previously Principal Secretary (Textiles, Commerce and Industries), will become the new Principal Secretary (Agriculture, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department). Devesh Deval, previously Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Tourism) and Resident Commissioner, will now focus solely on the Tourism Department.

Significant changes also occurred within the police force. Rakesh Balwal, the Superintendent of Police of Thoubal, is the new SP of Imphal East. Anupam, formerly SP of Senapati, becomes Joint Secretary (Home Department). Shivanand Surve, the Chandel SP, will now head the Senapati district, while Shaikh Mohd Zaib Zakir, the Churachandpur SP, has been appointed Senior SO to the DGP.
