Thu Jan 30 07:59:00 UTC 2025: ## Nation Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day
**New Delhi:** India observed Martyrs’ Day on Tuesday, marking the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and other dignitaries, including Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, paid floral tributes at Raj Ghat, Gandhi’s memorial. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi also offered their respects.
The Prime Minister took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his homage, stating that Gandhi’s ideals inspire the nation’s pursuit of development. He also remembered all those who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.
To commemorate the occasion, a special exhibition titled “Journey of the Mahatma: Through His Own Documents” was announced. Organized by the National Archives of India, the National Gandhi Museum, and other institutions, the exhibition will showcase rare photographs, documents, and personal correspondence illustrating Gandhi’s life and legacy. It will be inaugurated by Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee, Gandhi’s granddaughter.
