**ZAGREB, CROATIA** – Google announced today the launch of its Google News Showcase program in Croatia. This curated news experience and licensing program will feature prominent Croatian news publishers, including 24sata, Večernji list, Index.hr, and Net.hr.
The initiative aims to support a healthy and independent news ecosystem in Croatia by providing publishers with additional tools to connect with readers and generate revenue. Participating publishers will create custom panels within Google News and Discover (on Android and iOS) that showcase their content and link directly to their websites. This allows publishers greater control over the presentation of their news and strengthens their relationships with audiences.
Google’s News Showcase program is now live in 31 countries globally, with Croatia marking its expansion into another key Central European market. This launch follows Google’s long-standing commitment to supporting Croatian journalism through various initiatives, including collaborations with news organizations and journalist associations to combat misinformation and develop new technologies.
The program builds on Google’s existing partnerships with over 2,800 publications worldwide. The company stated its continued dedication to collaborating with Croatian publishers and journalists to further develop the country’s news landscape.
