**Chennai, January 30, 2025** – The 75th national conference on occupational health, OCCUCON 2025, organized by the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Association of Occupational Health (IAOH), commenced today. The four-day conference, running until February 1st, will feature presentations of over 90 scientific papers and posters, workshops, and academic sessions focusing on the latest trends in workplace health and well-being.

This year’s theme, “Occupational Health and Wellbeing: A Key to Organisational Sustainability,” underscores the growing importance of workplace health initiatives. The conference brings together a diverse group of professionals, including doctors, safety experts, and HR representatives, to share best practices and research.

The IAOH, a 76-year-old organization with approximately 3,000 members nationwide and affiliated with the International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), plays a crucial role in promoting occupational health in India. Significantly, India will host the ICOH 2027 congress in Mumbai, marking the country’s elevated status on the global stage of occupational health.

Conference director Sudha S. Ramachandran highlighted the Tamil Nadu branch’s commitment to furthering occupational health education, mentioning the successful organization of Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs in Madurai and plans for similar initiatives in other districts.
