Thu Jan 30 08:55:22 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Opposition Undecided on TMC’s Inclusion After Leader’s Campaign Participation

**Thiruvananthapuram, January 30, 2025** – The participation of Trinamool Congress (TMC) state convener P.V. Anvar in the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) Malayora Jatha campaign has not guaranteed his party’s permanent inclusion in the Kerala opposition alliance, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan clarified on Thursday.

While acknowledging Anvar’s participation in the campaign to highlight issues facing farmers, Satheesan stated that the UDF will make a decision after discussions among its allies. Anvar’s past representation of the Nilambur Assembly constituency, where a by-election is upcoming, was cited as the reason for his involvement in the non-partisan campaign.

Anvar had previously offered unconditional support to the UDF for the by-election and withdrew his opposition to Congress leader Aryadan Shoukath as the candidate. However, a Congress insider revealed that the party’s national leadership will have the final say on whether to formally accept the TMC into the alliance, citing the TMC’s fluctuating relations in West Bengal and the outcome of the Nilambur by-election as key factors. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and other UDF partners have yet to formally endorse Anvar’s inclusion.

Meanwhile, TMC’s Kerala state coordinator, V.S. Manoj Kumar, announced the party’s ongoing organizational expansion and upcoming state-level meeting on February 3rd to finalize leadership and strategy for the by-election and upcoming local body elections.
