Thu Jan 30 07:32:00 UTC 2025: ## ITC Hotels Shares Plunge on Market Debut

**Mumbai, January 29, 2025** – Shares of ITC Hotels, the newly demerged hospitality arm of ITC Ltd., opened significantly below expectations on their first day of trading. The stock debuted at Rs 180 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), a 30% discount to the January 6 discovery price of Rs 260, and Rs 188 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), a discount from the Rs 270 discovery price.

The initial drop further exacerbated, hitting the 5% lower circuit breaker on the BSE, trading at Rs 178.60 by the close of the day. This marked a disappointing start for the company, which officially listed today after its separation from the parent conglomerate.

ITC shareholders received ITC Hotels shares in a 10:1 ratio as part of the demerger, with ITC retaining a 40% stake. Acquiring 100 shares of ITC Hotels cost shareholders approximately Rs 54,040.

Akriti Mehrotra, Research Analyst at StoxBox, advises investors to consider a medium to long-term investment strategy for their newly acquired ITC Hotels shares. However, the significant initial discount raises concerns about market sentiment towards the newly independent hospitality company. Investors are urged to consult with financial advisors before making any investment decisions.
