**Hyderabad, January 30, 2025** – The Backward Classes (BC) Welfare Commission has demanded a detailed report on the tragic fire accident that occurred on Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad on January 26th. The incident, which took place during the ‘Bharatha Matha Maha Harathi’ event, resulted in the deaths of two young men and injuries to at least four others.
The commission, in a letter addressed to Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, requested complete details of the accident within three days. This follows the recovery of S. Ajay’s body from the lake after a 48-hour search operation and the death of 22-year-old pyrotechnician Ganapathi at Yashoda Hospital earlier the same day. The fire engulfed a boat and a jetty at the event. The commission chair, G. Niranjan, is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
