Thu Jan 30 02:50:00 UTC 2025: ## GE Aerospace’s T901 Engine Completes Successful Black Hawk Ground Runs

**WEST PALM BEACH, FL (January 29, 2025)** – GE Aerospace announced today that the new T901 engine has successfully completed initial ground runs on a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter at Sikorsky’s West Palm Beach facility. This marks a major step forward in the Improved Turbine Engine Program.

The ground tests validated the performance of all critical systems, including fuel, electrical, hydraulic, engine, and flight control systems. Data collected will be used in upcoming flight tests. Factory testing of the engine continues concurrently.

Amy Gowder, president and CEO, Defense & Systems at GE Aerospace, called the achievement a “pivotal moment,” stating that the T901 will equip the U.S. Army with a more powerful and mission-ready Black Hawk helicopter. Tom Champion, GE Aerospace’s T901 program director, highlighted the successful collaboration with the U.S. Army and Sikorsky.

The T901 engine offers a 50% power increase, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced lifecycle costs compared to its predecessor, the T700. These improvements translate to increased range, longer loiter times, and reduced maintenance costs for the Army. The engine is a key component of the Army’s modernization efforts.
