Wed Jan 29 19:27:49 UTC 2025: ## Dr. Phil Counters Selena Gomez’s Tearful Immigration Protest After Observing ICE Raids

**CHICAGO** – Dr. Phil McGraw has offered a contrasting perspective to Selena Gomez’s emotional video condemning President Trump’s immigration crackdown, following a weekend spent embedded with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in Chicago. Gomez’s video, since deleted, showed her weeping over the treatment of immigrants.

McGraw, speaking to the Daily Mail, stated that his firsthand observation of ICE operations led him to believe Gomez’s portrayal was inaccurate. He claims to have been given unrestricted access to the raids, which have resulted in over 100 arrests since Sunday. McGraw reported witnessing a focus on safety and professionalism from ICE agents, who he said prioritized targeting individuals deemed the most dangerous. He specifically cited the arrest of a convicted child sex offender from Thailand as an example, highlighting the dangers posed by some illegal immigrants and gangs like MS-13 and the Tren de Aragua.

“I certainly don’t think she was crying for these individuals,” McGraw said, adding that he believes Gomez’s understanding of the situation is incomplete. “She seemed to me to be very sincere in her empathy, but I’m not sure who she was identifying with… I don’t think she would relate to the people that were taken down in this operation,” he explained. McGraw’s visit included accompaniment by the recently appointed “Border Czar,” Tom Homan.

Gomez’s video, which garnered significant attention on social media before its removal, sparked both support and criticism. McGraw’s counterpoint provides a different narrative to the ongoing debate surrounding the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
