**NANTERRE, FRANCE –** Dominique Pélicot, currently serving a 20-year sentence for the horrific drugging and rape of his ex-wife, Gisèle Pélicot, is facing renewed questioning in connection with two unsolved cold cases. These cases, dating back to the 1990s, involve the murder of a property agent, Sophie Narme, in 1991, and the attempted armed rape of another property agent in 1999.
Pélicot, who was convicted in December 2024 for the abuse of his ex-wife, which involved inviting over 50 men to rape her after drugging her unconscious, is suspected of involvement in these earlier crimes. While he denies any participation in Narme’s murder, he admits to meeting the victim in the attempted rape case, acknowledging an altercation and attempt to undress her, but denies the charge of attempted rape.
The similarities between the two cases—both involving property agents, and similar modus operandi—have prompted investigators to link them. The investigation, handled by a specialized cold case unit, has been underway since September 2022. Pélicot’s lawyer, Béatrice Zavarro, stated that he plans to cooperate with the investigation and that he has previously been questioned about these matters.
Despite his cooperation, Zavarro emphasized Pélicot’s right to the presumption of innocence and highlighted his difficult conditions in solitary confinement since 2020. The lawyer also sought to distinguish these new investigations from Pélicot’s previously proven crimes against his ex-wife, a case that garnered significant international attention due to the scale of the abuse and Gisèle Pélicot’s bravery in bringing her abuser to justice. The case against Pélicot included thousands of photos and videos documenting the abuse.
