Thu Jan 30 02:07:01 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Police Seize Car with Cash, Liquor, and AAP Pamphlets Ahead of Elections

**New Delhi, January 30, 2025** – Delhi Police intercepted a vehicle bearing a Punjab registration plate on Wednesday, January 29, containing a large sum of cash, liquor, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) pamphlets. The seizure occurred ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections and has sparked a political firestorm.

The vehicle, stopped by a Delhi Police Flying Squad, was initially believed to be government-owned. However, the Punjab government swiftly denied ownership, stating the registration plate was forged. The actual vehicle registered under that number is a different model and is owned by a private citizen. The AAP also dismissed the incident as a “planted stunt,” citing inconsistencies in the vehicle’s details.

Delhi Police reported recovering approximately ₹10 lakh in cash, along with multiple liquor bottles and AAP election material. A case has been registered at the Tilak Marg police station, and legal proceedings have commenced.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva expressed outrage, claiming the incident points to corruption within the AAP. He stated that he couldn’t recall a similar incident in his 35 years of public life.

The Punjab government’s statement detailed their investigation, revealing the registered owner of the plate number to be an individual residing in Maharashtra, and the registered vehicle to be a different make and model than the one seized. The government confirmed the seized vehicle’s number plate is fake and does not belong to any Punjab government vehicle.

The conflicting accounts have created a tense political atmosphere as the Delhi Assembly elections approach. The authenticity of the seizure and the implications for the election remain highly contested.
