Thu Jan 30 12:07:04 UTC 2025: ## Kejriwal Accuses Election Commissioner of Bias, Defends Water Contamination Claims
**New Delhi** – Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has launched a scathing attack on Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, accusing him of bias and mismanagement in the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections. Kejriwal alleges that the CEC is ignoring widespread violations of the Model Code of Conduct in exchange for post-retirement employment opportunities.
The accusations came in response to an Election Commission of India (ECI) notice demanding evidence for Kejriwal’s claim that Haryana’s industrial waste is poisoning Delhi’s water supply. The ECI deemed the statement as potentially inciting disharmony. Kejriwal, however, doubled down on his allegations, stating the ECI is ignoring blatant distribution of money and other election violations. He challenged the ECI to investigate these claims and offered to provide water samples as evidence for the water contamination. He further suggested that the ECI’s actions are politically motivated and threatened to send water samples to the ECI.
Kejriwal also responded to the ECI’s initial letter concerning the water contamination issue, citing a Delhi Jal Board report which indicated high ammonia levels in the Yamuna River water, attributed to industrial waste discharge from Haryana. He maintained that raising concerns about safe drinking water is not a crime.
The AAP leader’s comments come amidst a separate tragedy, a stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj that claimed the lives of 30 people, including 8 women from Bihar. The incident highlighted safety concerns and organizational shortcomings at the religious gathering.
