**Chennai, January 30, 2025** – The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) held an awareness program in Chennai yesterday focusing on Indian standards for artificial limbs and rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities. Over 180 stakeholders attended the event, which featured Professor Emeritus V. Chockalingam of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR University as the chief guest.
BIS officials emphasized that these new standards will ensure functionality, safety, and accessibility for users while also allowing manufacturers to meet national and international benchmarks. The program highlighted the importance of adhering to BIS specifications in the production of artificial limbs and mobility equipment.
