**Puducherry, January 30, 2025** – The Puducherry Electricity Department will hold a public awareness program on February 1st to promote the central government’s “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana” scheme. The program, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Puthuvai Thamizh Sangam in Venkata Nagar, will educate residents about the subsidies available for installing rooftop solar power plants.
Since the scheme’s launch, 530 consumers have already installed solar plants, utilizing ₹3.65 crore in government subsidies. The department encourages residents to take advantage of this initiative to reduce electricity costs and contribute to renewable energy.
