**Indore, Madhya Pradesh:** A 27-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Devendra Burasi, has been arrested for the murder of 58-year-old Inspector Prabhat Narayan Chaturvedi, a police officer at the Rustamji Armed Police Training College (RAPTC) in Indore. The incident occurred on the intervening night of January 23-24.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Zone 2) Abhinay Vishwakarma, Chaturvedi’s body was discovered near Phoenix Mall on January 24. An investigation, including a forensic examination, revealed the inspector had been murdered.

A missing person’s report had been filed by Chaturvedi’s family earlier that day. Police investigations, including reviewing CCTV footage, traced the inspector’s last movements to a Pardeshipura wine shop where he hired Burasi’s auto-rickshaw.

Burasi confessed to the crime, stating that he and Chaturvedi consumed alcohol together during the ride. A dispute ensued, escalating into a violent altercation. Burasi admitted to striking Chaturvedi on the head with a stone, which has been recovered as evidence. The accused has been arrested, and his auto-rickshaw confiscated. The investigation is ongoing.
