**Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh –** Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao inaugurated a new ₹10 lakh Dog Squad building at the Narasaraopet police office on Wednesday. The event, marked by a ceremonial sapling planting with local officials, also served as a platform for the DGP to announce a major push towards technology-driven crime prevention across the state.
Rao highlighted the government’s ambitious plan to install one lakh CCTV cameras statewide within a month, urging public and private entities to contribute to the initiative. He stressed that the aim is not only to solve crimes but to deter them through increased surveillance. The DGP also announced the expanded use of drones and body-worn cameras during festivals, public gatherings, and law enforcement operations. Five drones per sub-division have already been deployed in Narasaraopet, Sattenapalli, and Gurajala. Furthermore, Palnadu district has become the first in India to implement a digital barricading system.
Rao reiterated the state police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking, cybercrime, road accidents, and crimes against women through increased surveillance and public awareness programs. He encouraged the installation of CCTV cameras in residential and commercial areas to bolster security.
