Thu Jan 30 16:46:29 UTC 2025: ## Kashmir Students Stage Nationalist Rally Amidst Recent Controversies

**Srinagar, January 30, 2025** – Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student wing affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), held a “Tiranga rally” in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, on Thursday. The rally featured a 50-foot-long Indian national flag carried by over two dozen participants, including several women.

The ABVP asserted the rally aimed to demonstrate the patriotism of Kashmiri youth and counter perceptions of anti-national sentiment among some segments of the population. Participants emphasized their pride in the Indian flag and their commitment to the nation. The rally concluded with the singing of the national anthem at Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk.

This display of nationalism comes in the wake of recent controversies. The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Department recently rescinded an order permitting the ABVP to hold a kabaddi and wrestling championship in Doda district, and a circular was issued to the Education Department following an incident in Poonch where students were directed to attend an ABVP rally. The timing and context of the rally have therefore added significance to the event.
