Wed Jan 29 22:30:00 IST 2025: ## Tigers Near Deal with Reliever Tommy Kahnle

**DETROIT, MI –** The Detroit Tigers are reportedly on the verge of signing veteran relief pitcher Tommy Kahnle, according to multiple reports. Jon Heyman of the New York Post and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic both indicated that a deal is imminent for the 35-year-old right-hander.

While Kahnle has battled injuries in recent years, limiting his appearances since 2020, his performance when healthy has been exceptional. Over the past two seasons, he boasts a 2.41 ERA, a 28% strikeout rate, and a 10.6% walk rate. In 83 innings pitched, he’s proven effective in high-leverage situations, recording 32 holds and four saves with only two blown saves in 38 save opportunities.

The terms of the contract are expected to be a one-year deal, though specifics haven’t been officially confirmed. The addition of Kahnle is expected to bolster the Tigers’ bullpen.
