Wed Jan 29 14:31:59 IST 2025: ## One and Done: Indian Cricketers Who Played Only One T20 International
**Hyderabad, India** – Several talented Indian cricketers have seen their dreams of representing Team India dashed after playing just a single T20 International match. While skill is crucial, luck and sustained performance also play a significant role in securing a permanent place in the national team. Recent examples highlight this harsh reality.
Prithvi Shaw, despite showing promise, played only one T20I match in 2021 against Sri Lanka, getting out on the first ball. His subsequent struggles with form led to an IPL 2025 auction snub and omission from the Ranji Trophy team. He previously played five Test matches and six ODIs.
Mayank Markande, an IPL veteran with 37 wickets from 37 matches across various franchises, also experienced a fleeting international career. His only T20I appearance came in 2019 against Australia in Visakhapatnam, where he conceded 31 runs in four overs without taking a wicket.
Sandeep Warrier, once praised as a top-five Indian pacer, similarly played a single T20I in 2021 against Sri Lanka, taking no wickets and conceding 23 runs in three overs. He too was passed over in the IPL 2025 auction, marking the end of his short international career.
These cases highlight the intense competition within Indian cricket and the need for consistent high performance to remain at the highest level. While these players showcased talent, a single match wasn’t enough to secure their place in the national T20 team.
