Wed Jan 29 04:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Australia’s Sri Lanka Tour Expanded with Extra ODI

**Colombo, January 16** – Australia’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka has been expanded to include an additional One Day International (ODI), bringing the total number of ODIs to two, according to an announcement by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) in coordination with Cricket Australia. The tour will now consist of two ODIs and two Test matches, the latter forming part of the ICC World Test Championship.

The extra ODI, scheduled for February 14th in Colombo, provides valuable preparation for Australia ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, beginning February 19th. This is noteworthy as Sri Lanka will be absent from the Champions Trophy for the first time.

The tour commences with the first Test in Galle from January 29th to February 2nd, followed by the second Test, also in Galle, from February 6th to 10th. The ODIs will be played in Colombo on February 12th and 14th.

Steve Smith, captaining Australia in the absence of Pat Cummins (on paternity leave), expressed his excitement about the tour, viewing it as an opportunity to mentor younger players on sub-continent conditions. Smith stated he is comfortable with the captaincy role despite past controversies.

The Australian Test squad includes: Steve Smith (c), Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Travis Head (vc), Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Nathan McSweeney, Todd Murphy, Mitchell Starc, and Beau Webster.
